MTV Nicki Minaj and Eminem's alter egos, Roman Zolanski and Slim Shady, are not known for their restraint. On Minaj's much-buzzed about Pink Friday collabo with Em, "Roman's Revenge," both MCs demonstrate how bonkers they can get, trading outrageous bars packed with lyrical fury.

The track opens with ominous strings and the weighty knock of the drums and bass line, establishing the beat's dark, intense energy.

Charlie heads back to work after hospitalization

The troubled actor was hospitalized after being found drunk and naked by police in his New York hotel room early Tuesday morning, but it hasn't hampered his professional duties. Harsh public criticism and a police investigation can't keep 'em down! The family on 'Sister Wives' will be back on TLC for a season 2 of the polygamist reality show.

According to Zap2It, the series will return in March with 10 episodes. Look for a 'Sister Wives' special to air on Halloween night and a 'Sister Wives Honeymoon Special' to air on Nov. 28. The 'Honeymoon' show will focus on Kody Brown and his new wife Robyn as they live as husband and wife for the first time.

o. HBO has ordered a pilot for 'Veep,' a comedy centered on a fictional vice president. 'Seinfeld' star Julia Louis-Dreyfus is in talks to star in the pilot from Armando Iannucci. [Hollywood Reporter]

Katy Perry's 'Firework' Director Hopes Video Shows 'Substance'

'She looks like a pinup, but she's got ... a lot to say,' Dave Meyers tells MTV News.

When Dave Meyers sat down to write his treatment for Katy Perry's "Firework" video, he says he wanted to "play with [her] image a bit ... sort of demystify the candy-colored pop icon that she's become."

So you can imagine his disappointment when, as soon as he finished his first draft, the director caught the premiere of Perry's "Teenage Dream" clip, which stripped KP of her "California Gurls" candy coating and, in the process, sent him back to the drawing board.

"I had written the treatment already with the idea of deconstructing her a little bit, and then 'Teenage Dream' came out and deconstructed her all the way," Meyers said, laughing. "So I had to switch gears a little bit. But really, it was easy, because I connected with the song. I felt 'Firework' was very personal, and I was very drawn to that. ... We wanted to articulate the meaning of that song: what it means to be an underdog and have the courage, if you're on the outskirts of society, to be your own person."

With that goal in mind, Meyers headed to Hungary (Budapest, to be exact) to shoot "Firework," his first-ever collaboration with Perry. From the very beginning, both he and KP were on the same page about one thing: They wanted the video to be totally, 100 percent real.

"We were both very into the idea of getting away from Hollywood and featuring real people in the video," Meyers said. "So we featured real people; they weren't actors. Finding two gay guys in Budapest was a challenge, because it's not as accepted there as it is in West Hollywood. I found an actual, real couple.

"The girl in the video isn't actually a sick girl, but we got her to shave her head, and, if you're an 11-year-old, that's a massive commitment. The people's commitment to it was really beautiful," he continued. "And then in the last scene, that wasn't 250 extras, that was 250 hardcore Katy Perry fans. Those people were jumping because they were loving life."

Those 250 fans were winners of a contest sponsored by Deutsch Telekom (which followed them on the journey from their homes across Europe to the set of the "Firework" video), and when they were finally brought face-to-face with their heroine, much like the video itself, the reaction was very real.

"Katy was brought to tears when she met the extras," Meyers said. "And, really, that's her. She looks like a pinup, but she's got a lot of substance and a lot to say, and hopefully this video represents that."

But for all the talk of keeping it real, there is one aspect of "Firework" that isn't: the eye-catching shower of sparks that emits from the bodies of Perry and various characters throughout the clip. Turns out, they're mostly special effects. Though, in keeping with the spirit of the entire production, Meyers tried his hardest to figure out some way of using actual fireworks. Sadly, it didn't work out.

"I tried to figure out a way to actually rig real fireworks to real people," he said, laughing, "but it ended up being a hazard. Nobody wanted me to get close to Katy with them."

'How I Met Your Mother' Review: The Baby Gap

Nicki Minaj threatened to let her Barbiez loose if she didn't make the 2010 Hottest MCs in the Game list. The warning was in jest, but fortunately for the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust, Minaj landed at #6.

The Lil Wayne protégé became the first female rapper to make the cut, and the historic nod was not lost on her.

"Oh my God, I was overwhelmed with emotions," she told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway during an appearance on "RapFix Live." "It's really something, as a kid, just as an aspiring rapper, you look at. Who misses this show? No one is missing the list being revealed. You count down the days. It kind of makes you a part of this elite club. I haven't even put the album out yet, and to be a part of something that Eminem, Jay, Kanye and Lil Wayne are a part of, I couldn't believe it was happening."

The pick was an easy one, however, as she blazed guest appearances throughout the year, heating up numbers by Mariah Carey, Ludacris and will.i.am, just to name a few. Nicki said Young Money member Mack Maine was the one who broke the news to her. She said, although she knew she had to make the list this year, she was still worried her ranking would be low because she was a girl.

"I was thinking, 'Well, they'll probably put me on at 10,' " she said. "My first question was, 'I better not be anything after 8.' I don't know why I had this thing about 8. But when he told me, it was just the best feeling."

'Dexter' Mid-Season Pulse Check and Spoilers: It's About to Get Intense

After a death, time can seem to stand still. It takes a while to get back into the swing of normalcy, whatever that is. And the more major the death, the more significant the person was in your life, the longer it takes.

Dexter Morgan isn't usually in the business of dealing with that side of the death equation. He's typically more involved in the front-end. The murder end. In a hands-on sort of way. But, intentionally or not, the first few episodes of Dexter season 5 have served as a fitting metaphor for the healing process. Since Rita died, it's not so much Dexter whose life has stalled, but the show's--at least according to fans who relished the intense Trinity storyline last season and have critiqued this season's more slow-burning approach. No Big Bad (yet). Very little murdering. A whole lot of talking about romantic and family drama. Cut out the Boyd/Lumen story and the gruesome Santa Muerte scenes, and early season 5 Dexter could possibly pass for a (really well made) cop soap opera.
